PetroChina Fourth Construction Successfully Completes First Lifting of Large Tower for Huajin Petrochemical Ethylene Plant in Northern China

According to reports, the equipment for the 1.65 million tons/year ethylene plant's quench oil tower arrived on site on November 9. The quench oil tower stands 52 meters tall and has a diameter of 13 meters—making it the largest-diameter tower in the ethylene unit. The tower itself weighs a net 1,060 tons, while the total weight, including its "clothing and cap" installation on the ground, exceeds 1,230 tons.
According to reports, the equipment for the quench oil tower of the project's 1.65 million tons/year ethylene unit arrived on site on November 9. The quench oil tower stands 52 meters tall with a diameter of 13 meters—making it the largest-diameter tower in the ethylene plant. The tower itself weighs a net 1,060 tons, while after being "dressed and capped" on the ground, its total weight reached over 1,230 tons. The installation was carried out using a 4,000-ton crawler crane as the main lifting device, assisted by a 1,000-ton crawler crane. Lifting operations officially began at 9:17 a.m. that day, and by 10:45 a.m., the tower equipment had been successfully positioned in place—taking just 1 hour and 28 minutes in total. Finally, at 5:38 p.m. that same day, the tower lights were illuminated, marking the completion of this critical milestone.
The large-scale tower equipment for the ethylene unit was successfully installed after 37 days of intensive construction, thanks to the collaborative efforts of all participating employees from Petrochemical No.1 Construction Company’s First Engineering Division, Petrochemical No.1 Construction Company’s Special Operations Division, and Petrochemical No.1 Construction Company’s Electrical & Instrumentation Division.
